I want to apply for a credit card that starts out with a minimum credit line of $300. This would be my first credit card. If I get the $300 credit, I want to make a purchase for like $200. Is this a good thing or a bad thing to do? Can someone give me some good tips on handling a credit card without getting bad credit?
btw, I will mostly be using this card to try to start a home business.
What is Travel credit card? Is this a good credit card company for a visa card? I’m thinking about getting a visa card and I want to know if that travel credit card allows you to earn points when you use it for purchases.
I am a college student and I would like to get a credit card for emergency purposes like unexpected car repairs and things like that. I have two store credit cards, which I always pay in full before the due date, and I have an excellent credit score because of those accounts. I am looking for a card with no annual fee and a low interest rate. Which credit card would be good for me to get?
I live in the State of Georgia and I am being sued over an old credit card debt that I defaulted on. It has been more than 4 years but less than 6 years since the date of default, so depending on whether credit card accounts are considered a written contract or an open account in the State of Georgia, the statute of limitations may or may not apply. The statute of limitations is 6 years for written contracts and 4 years for open accounts . Does anyone know for sure which type applies for credit card accounts in Georgia? The account is with Citibank MasterCard and was opened in the late 80′s or early 90′s. Thanks.
Maxed Out takes viewers on a journey deep inside the American style of debt, where things seem fine as long as the minimum monthly payment arrives on time. With coverage that spans from small American towns all the way to the White House, the film shows how the modern financial industry really works, explains the true definition of “preferred customer” and tells us why the poor are getting poorer while the rich keep getting richer. Hilarious, shocking and incisive, Maxed Out paints a picture of a national nightmare which is all too real for most of us. Great for college students.
I have good credit and I’m in the market for a business credit card. What company offers the best rates, offers, cash back programs, etc. for businesses? Please give me some ideas on programs that I should look into from the major cards like, American Express, Discover, Master Card, and Visa.
I received a letter in the mail from Juniper (iTunes Rewards) stating that they have closed my credit card account due to inactivity. I opened the account about 18 months ago and have never actually used it. Can they close my account just like that without any warning? How should I handle the situation? (Is there anything I can even do?)
Also, I know that closing credit card accounts lowers your credit score. Does anyone know how much mine will be affected?
I own a small business which often takes credit card numbers over the phone as a deposit. We recently had a customer no show, and she contested through her credit card company when we charged her (she claims it wasn’t explained when she gave us her #). The credit card company took her side and said it is policy to allow anyone contesting to get their money back if there is no signature. How can this be? So many hotels and services take card #’s as deposits!

Hi. I recently just got my first credit card ever and used it to make a $1600 purchase. The credit limit is $3000, so obviously I’m over 50% of the balance, and I just learned that’s bad for credit scores. I expect to be able to pay off the purchase in the next two or three months. Will my credit score go back up immediately after I get the balance on my card down, or will it take a while? Thanks.
I just finished college, and work full time. I have a debit card, and building good credit from paying off loans. A lot of people have been telling me to get a credit card, but I wonder if it really is necessary. Please give me some good reasons to get a credit card other than building good credit. The only other advantage I know about is those point-system/rewards credit cards, that earn you miles or other things. And what is the best credit card to get for a first time credit card holder? The number of choices are a little overwhelming. How did you choose your first/main credit card?
Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) joined a group of convenience store owners as they delivered two million signatures from customers urging Congress to put an end to unfair credit and debit card swipe fees. At a Capitol Hill press conference, Welch and Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Penn.) called on their fellow lawmakers to support legislation they wrote, the Credit Card Interchange Fees Act (HR 2382), which would help level the playing field between consumers, small businesses and credit card companies by requiring greater transparency and prohibiting unfair and abusive practices. The two million new signatures add to 1.7 million signatures delivered by store owners to Congress last September. Welch also announced during the event that he will be introducing legislation requiring debit card payments to be processed in the same manner as paper checks, resulting in lower fees for merchants. Though debit cards function as the electronic equivalent of checks, debit card issuers charge egregious fees, while checks clear at a nominal rate. Today two million Americans added their voices to the chorus calling for fairness for the small businesses that drive our economy. Two million more Americans are recognizing that swipe fees kill good-paying, local jobs and drive up costs for consumers. Two million more Americans are saying enough is enough, said Rep. Welch. We must take action to rein in the abusive practices of the credit card industry and ensure that small businesses get a …
I have two credit cards, but I would like to get one final one. I’ve been getting turned down for a few recently that I thought sounded good. What are some good cards and websites where I can get a credit card that almost every gets approved for? I’m young(21) and trying to establish some more credit. My friend got approved for a Best Buy credit card tonight and his credit isn’t that good. However, I just want a main card(for example: visa, discover) and not a store card. Thanks for any help.
They’re called “Generation Y” — teens and twentysomethings known stereotypically for their coddled upbringing, confidence, opinionated dialogue, free-spending habits and openness to change. Ultimately, however, the more than 50 million members may be best remembered for whether they can overcome the dire financial straits that plague many of them. Even before the recession, those in Generation Y — the latest products of a get-it-now, pay-for-it-later mind-set that has permeated the nation’s economy — faced a range of financial pitfalls as they embraced expensive high-tech gadgets and added credit card debt onto student loans. Now, stagnant wages, job insecurity, the decline in employer-sponsored health insurance and retirement benefits, the rapid increase in basic expenses, soaring debt and minimal savings have jeopardized the economic security of the entire generation, according to a recent report by Demos, a public policy research and advocacy think tank.
I just turned eighteen at the end of February, so I have limited credit history.
I was wondering what credit card is used for building credit and would be the best choice for a person getting they’re first credit card and with no credit history.
I always thought at 18 they love to give you credit cards, I’ve tried Capitol One, Chase, a QT credit card, and a Best Buy one. All deny due to no credit history. I obviously can’t get Credit history if they won’t let me have credit. I Work 2 jobs and just want to have one just in case and to actually build my credit. What’s going on and why do i keep getting denied?
Think you’ve got it bad with the fees your credit card charges you? Well try this: $247 up-front, for a $300 credit line… And that’s not the worst of it!
I have decent credit (my credit score is 700) but I had canceled all my cards when trying to get out of debt. I am now free of all unsecured debt but I need to have a card so in the future I won’t be hurt by having no credit.
I’m thinking I want a card with no annual fee and a low APR. The card would only be used occasionally and paid off immediately. I have no desire to repeat previous mistakes.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good card for this purpose?
Ahead of its time this is a cartoon animation that’s been up on the web since 2006 and is all about the credit crunch crisis. Credit card spending and loans from banks are in their trillions of dollars and something has to give. We no longer spend what we have earned, we spend what we haven’t earned on the back of house price rises and yet more loans. The banks are prospering and fat cats are awarding themselves massive bonuses, but it cannot continue. Beware the debt time bomb may bring the walls of the western world clattering to the ground. Song arranged and performed by Old Man Pie, with animation by Stuart (formerly of The Pie). Song written by Kyle Christie and (c) Kyle Christie 2006. Credit crunch credit crunch credit crunch!
I have a credit score of 700 and I want another credit card. I was thinking about citi bank or bank of america. Which one should I get? I only have one other credit card. I want a credit card that reports to the 3 credit bureaus every month. Does anyone have either one of these cards, if so, which one did you like and why?
I just recently opened a bank account and I added money to my savings account. Can I use the money that I put in there with my card if I go to a store or something or can I only take money out from the atm? Also, what is the difference between credit and debit? Thanks for the help.
I’m getting a credit card soon and I don’t know anything about them. Please tell me all you know about credit cards, how they work, which ones you think are the best, your experiences. I’m really nervous about it.
